ATTEMPTED ROBBERY AT BEDFORD PLACE MALL

bedford-place-mallAt 11:19 this morning a 29 year old male entered the Scotiabank at 1658 Bedford Highway, in Bedford Place Mall. He jumped over the counter and attempted to take money from the cash drawers. After being told to leave, he fled to the parking lot where he attempted to force a male out of vehicle.

The suspect was unsuccessful and fled into the wooded area behind the mall. Patrol members with the assistance of K9 conducted a 2 hour track, eventually coming out in the area of Smith’s Rd, Bedford. There, officers learned that the suspect had taken a taxi to an address in the 300 block of Lucasville Road.

Police attended the address and located the suspect inside the residence. He was arrested without incident and is currently being held on charges of attempted theft in relation to the bank, attempted robbery in relation to the vehicle and break and enter. No one was injured in any of the incidents.
