President's Choice logoThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to consume certain President’s Choice (PC) brand beef products because they may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

The fresh (not frozen) beef products affected by the alert include steaks, roasts and ground beef. The products were available in Atlantic Superstores and were sold in a variety of weight packages (trays with a plastic over-wrap). They had “Best Before” dates from April 29 to June 16, 2009.

The products were also sold at in-store meat counters.

Consumers are advised to check their freezers and dispose of any affected beef products.

The CFIA warning comes after an expanded recall of beef products in the U.S. by JBS Swift Beef Company of Greeley, Colorado.
