The massive forest fire that swept through the Spryfield area on April 30 could be clearly seen from all over Halifax regional Municipality, including Bedford.

This photo was taken from the Bedford waterfront around 7:10 p.m., hours after it began.

The blaze resulted in the evacuation of about 1,200 area residents and 450 homes. In the end, the fire destroyed eight homes.

As we head into the warmer spring and summer months, the Spryfield fire is a reminder to Bedford residents to make sure their home and contents insurance is up to date.
