A 30-year-old Bedford man faces a number of charges as a result of an incident on the morning of August 15, on Windmill Road in Burnside.
A 43-year-old Sackville man was driving down Magazine Hill towards Burnside just before 7 a.m. when he noticed a man in a Honda Civic behind him, shaking his fist and honking his horn. The man pulled into the right lane, and the angry man passed, still shaking his fist.
When the two vehicles came to a red light on Windmill at Akerley, the angry man exited his vehicle and confronted the other. He punched the driver’s window of the man’s car, breaking it. The second man then exited his vehicle and a physical altercation ensued, during which the 30-year-old allegedly produced and waved a knife at the victim, before being knocked down by a punch. Following the altercation, the suspect got back into his vehicle and fled. Neither man was seriously injured during the incident.
The victim contacted police and as a result of investigation by East Division patrol members, West Division Patrol members assisted by Lower Sackville RCMP pulled over a vehicle on Hammonds Plains Road in Hammonds Plains about an hour later and arrested the suspect without incident. He is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon facing charges of assault with a weapon, damaging property and breach of probation. He will also receive a ticket for driving while suspended.
